Purpose: Translate a mobile phone game into a tangible wearable prosthesis that allows for cooperative play.
Instructions:
In this exercise, students will pick three different mobile games:
1 that they already have downloaded from their phone
1 that is from the App or Play store top grossing or top free
1 that you've never heard of before.
- Dissect the game into its elements of play.
- Identify what limitations for gameplay come from touchscreen gaming
- Choose a part of the body, or maybe the whole body, in which to play this game and create cardboard/bristol prototypes that recreate how the game is played.
- How does making the game tangible change the gameplay of the game?
- This should not be a literal translation of the mobile game to real life.
- Flat game-boards are not allowed (tooooooooo ez).
Deliverables: 2 posts, one of which is the video.
- Instruction manual based off of your new mobile game.
- Sketches of 3 ways of reimagining the game.
- Prototype photos
