Luis Carbajal

Purpose: Translate a mobile phone game into a tangible wearable prosthesis that allows for cooperative play.

Instructions:

In this exercise, students will pick three different mobile games:
1 that they already have downloaded from their phone
1 that is from the App or Play store top grossing or top free
1 that you've never heard of before.

  • Dissect the game into its elements of play.
  • Identify what limitations for gameplay come from touchscreen gaming
  • Choose a part of the body, or maybe the whole body, in which to play this game and create cardboard/bristol prototypes that recreate how the game is played.
  • How does making the game tangible change the gameplay of the game?
  • This should not be a literal translation of the mobile game to real life.
  • Flat game-boards are not allowed (tooooooooo ez).

Deliverables: 2 posts, one of which is the video.

  • Instruction manual based off of your new mobile game.
  • Sketches of 3 ways of reimagining the game.
  • Prototype photos
  • Video Post
