Prompt: Have you ever wondered why you buy things? Why you know about the latest products, media or trends each day? How often you see the same ad, song, celebrity over and over again? To tap into our daily interactions with media, music, trends and products, you will create a series of diagrams using your "screen time" built into your mobile device.

Post: Each day, create a diagram, that highlights a product, song, trend that you encountered during your screen time. Built into IOS devices as well as through an app for Androids is a screen time tracker. Based on this information, you will dig deeper to track the pop up products, media or latest trends that you interact with while on your phone. For example, if you spent 1 hour on Tik Tok or Instagram, what types of videos were you watching? Were these videos of dances? Cat videos? Are any products or things advertised? Do you see any hidden co-signs? Consider the social media platforms you use, the video games you play, the CONTAGIOUS content you experience each day!

Each diagram can focus on ONE thing. Think about something specific you can document, like how much time you spent actually watching Netflix vs. time spent watching a movie. Or how many times a particular ad popped up in your feed while you were doing something online? The above slides and images show various approaches to visual information. Use whatever medium is most comfortable to you: hand drawings, Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino!

***Extra Challenge: In your settings, adjust your Display to Black and White. Try creating diagrams based on your screen time, when your display is no longer as vibrant as it normally is! What changes do your experience?

Deliverables: After (1) week of documenting, post your series of daily diagrams!
