Dome Up
Our disaster was blizzards.
We decided to make a dome that surrounded the city, to prevent the snow from coming inside the city, because a snowy city makes it hard for people to move around the city.
We would probably use it in Buffalo, New York.

Blizzards make cities messy and hard to move around so covering a city with a dome could allow the people to have better access around the city in a storm.
Another precedent was from the Simpsons Movie. This idea made us think that building a dome to cover a city could protect the city.
Sketch of our Dome Idea
One precedent was a sports dome that protects the playing field, and the fans so they can still play even if it's snowing.
Initial Sketch
Our final precedent was a covered car parking place. This would protect the cars from snow in a blizzard.
First we thought we could make heated roads and put them everywhere in the city, so when a blizzard was coming we could turn the heat up to melt the snow on the roads. Then we decided that might not always work, and it would take a lot of time to build.
Iterations
Instead we decided to put a dome over the city. We looked for dome shaped or circle objects but didn't find any to use. So we had to change our shape. First we made a rectangular shape but then we found a round dome shape for our final project.
Iterations
We started with a cardboard rectangle and then hot glued a foam structure on to it and then hot glued clear sides. This was a version with rectangular shape.
And then this is our dome.
On top of our dome, we aded a laser-cut circle so you can see inside and so people in side can get some sunlight in the summer.
This is a view inside the dome.
this is our platform with tubes so you can get in and out of the city.
This is our final Product.
