In this project, I made a 3D map of the Island of Artime from The Unwanteds series by Lisa McMann. In the Unwanteds series, there are seven Islands, Artime being in the center. Going from west to east, the Islands are: The Island of Legends, The Island of fire, Warbler, the Island of Artime, the Island of Dragons, The Island of Graves, and the Island of Shipwreaks. I chose Artime specifically because it is where most of the series is based.

Artime and Quill

The island of Artime is split into 2 parts - Quill and Artime. They are on the same island, however, they are about as different as possible. Almost all of the Artimeins are Unwanted who were sent to death by Quill at the age of 13.

Every year in Quill, there is a "holiday" called The Purge, where all of the 13 year olds are sorted into three categories: Wanted, Necessary and Unwanted.

My plan for this project was originally much larger, with me trying to make 3D models of all of the islands, but between time and a lack of model magic, I was forced to cut back and just make a 3D map of Artime. On the next slide, there will be a picture of my sketch of Artime. The design has changed quite a bit since then though.

One challenge I had to overcome during this project was the lack of reacources and using them. The model magic did not come in until day three, so that set me back, and then later in the project I had trouble finding paint in the CCI, wich also set me back. Another problem I had with the model magic was molding it. At first, if was very hard to mold the model magic, but eventually I figured it out and was able to start putting it on. However, by that time it was already day 4.

Time chart: I have a very big project idea, so I am going to have to use my remaining time wisely. I am already a little bit behind because the Model Magic took a long time to arrive. I am going to do more of Artime than Quill, because there just isn't that much in Quill.

On day 7, I do not have a picture, because for some reason the picture got deleted from my computer, but on this day I finished model magic and painted Artime. On this day, I had 2 periods to work, so I got a lot done.

Day 8

On day 8, I painted the ocean. In this picture, the ocean is not finished, but by the end of class, it was done. I also painted part of Quill.

Today I finished my island. I added the eye of a Jumbie in the ocean like the book and the glowing eyes like the book. I also added houses to finish it off.

My conceptual precedent is the island in the book because it is the closest thing to what I am creating.

My technical precedent is the island Trinidad which is the island the author grew up on, and it is also the island the book is based off of.

Here is the ocean That I made with some of Evans help. I used multiple pants to shade then used hot glue to add texture like waves.

I painted my island then added grass!! Pt.1

Since I thought that the paint was not realistic enough I added grass. I am not finished with the grass yet, but I think in the end it will look good.

First here I painted a little of the island but I felt that is was not realistic enough.

Today I added the Sand to the island, and I will add one more thing so that people will know that this island is specifically from my book ( Which is just writing something down and just gluing one more thing.

I am making a Diorama of the main setting in the book. The diorama is going to be a cardboard base that I will paint, I will also have a 3-D - printed castle and crown to represent the Castle in the book and the King and Queen. if I have more time, I will make a LED light around the base.

I got my Technical Precedent from the magical castle in the book because it was the main setting and it made the people in the castle magic.

1st Iteration

This was my first iteration and I made a 3-D printed Castle and Crown because a castle and a crown resembles a lot in the book

Second Iteration

My second Iteration was making the cardboard surface because I had to make the surface with walls on the side.

3rd Iteration

My 3rd iteration was to paint the cardboard surface black and I will paint the top

Next I painted the top and put a sticker with the name and Author on it. There is also a river

Then I Hot glued the Castle and crown onto each other and then Hot glued it on the Cardboard

After that, I made Cardboard cuts of 7 Because The main Character is a 7th son of a 7th son and I made LED's at the top but the LED's Burnt of.

Today we have nothing to do because the laser cutter and 3d printer was full

Today we decided to scrap the idea of doing Percy's pen/sword and do Thaliah's tree and we started making the base of the tree. We also drilled holes in the tree to start putting in branches.

Today we make the branches and started the mid review

Today I did a couple more slides on my mid review

Today we I worked on painting the sword and Jack worked on the tree and added leafs.

Day 7

The CCI was closed today so we could not do anything today but on wensday we will hot glue the grass on

Today we added the grass to the bottom of the tree and started working on our final review

Today we finished the tree and the sword and we finished the final review

At first, we wanted to make Percy Jackson Pen/Sword but we realized it would be harder to make because everyone is trying to use the 3d printer. Then we had the idea to make Thaliahs Tree. It's really important to the book because it gets poisoned, So we want to make the tree half poisoned and half healthy.

Today I built my bowl in tinker cad and im going to print it tomorrow. I also built my lighting bolt for the lazercut which im going to finsh tomorrow too.

Today I laser cut my desgin and 3rd printed my bowl. I spray painted my lazercut gold on one side.

Today I started building my dog bowl cage and painted a self and the top.

Today I finished painting the inside and out side of my box I just need to paint the doors and add food and water to be done.

Today I worked on my writing for my descriptions of my items. I also printed all my text today. ( I was out for two days that's why everyone else Is on 9 and I'm on 7)

I am making a Board game

This will relate to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It will show a big scene from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe sublimated onto the center and you pull cards to play on the spaces. You get around the board to win.
