Biomimicry Precedents

Mangroves create their own biome, preventing coral bleaching. The living seawalls are made to mimic the roots of the mangroves. The living seawalls help a lot of important local coral species find new homes.
As glass is transparent, hundreds of millions of birds end up crashing into buildings and skyscrapers--they can not detect them. Spiders don’t want birds to collide with their webs as they are too large to be caught in them and have incorporated UV-reflective silk strands in their webs. Glass with a UV-reflective coating, which was inspired by spider webs, was created, and they are detected by birds.
Wave energy is a continuous, waste-free, and non-toxic form of energy. Researchers studied the ability of underwater plants to withstand strong currents and realized that flexible bases and stretchy structures are crucial. They developed similar power modules mounted on the seafloor to withstand currents while generating electricity.
Mussels could adhere to surfaces even in strong currents. Researchers came up with an adhesive that mimics mussels. This solution can expedite the coral replacement process.
