Today I worked on figuring out how I was going to make the staircase in the house, and I realized that I would have to use foam board for the walls because we cant cut things that big in the laser cutter. To the right is a picture of the current stair 3d model.
Day 2
I made the walls and floor for my dorama. Tomorrow I intend on cutting out the floor for the 2nd floor, thinking about where the rooms will be, and cutting out the roof
Day 3
Today I cut out the door , and I built the first floor walls.I also made the 1st floor plan, and I made the roof. Next I need to finish making the stairs so I can start designing the second floor.
I couldn take a picture
Day 4
Today I designed he stairs. I used Tinkercad to design them and stacked a bunch of 3d rectangles and file the bottom to make it.
This will relate to The Hunger Games because I am making a diorama related to the moment Katniss steps up for her sister and takes her place in The Hunger Games.
My thesis for my project is so you can see something from two perspectives. The way I did that is by having one side to be France and one side to be the hotel. The way I did is by 3d printing the hotel and the elevator and getting turf for the France side.
This is my first precedent of and 3d printed elevator.
I am Planning to Create The Legendary War Hammer Aegis-Fang. This Will Relate to The Crystal Shard By R. A. Salvatore, Because it Will Show the True Power of This Legendary Hammer
This is My Conceptual Precedent, Showing What My Hammer is Based On.
This is My Technical Precedent, Showing The Shape and Design of the Hammer.
This is My Initial Sketch, Showing The Different Components Within it.
Iterations
Iteration #1
In this iteration I created a file in cuttle to Laser Cut
Iteration #2
In this iteration I Laser-Cut the File I had and started sanding it
Iteration #3
In this iteration I put together my laser cut peiced and built half of the hammer
Iteration #4
In this iteration I put together the other half of the hammer and fully sanded it
Iteration #5
In this iteration I stained the handle and painted the hammer.
Iteration #6
In This Iteration I added the Leather Handle
Final Iteration
In this iteration I finished the leather grip and I added a stand
My project is a Diorama of Mordor. I decided to do a diorama because the settings in my book are very important, and I thought it would be cool to show a location in my book through my project.
For my project, I will make a few things. The first thing I am making is a model chimney sweep. I am also making a stand for the sweep. Lastly, I will have 2 3D models of my characters that will rest on my stand. I am putting all of these things together because I feel that the chimney sweep was an important thing to Nan and Charlie in the story, so I should include them in my project.
Project Description
This is my conceptual precedent. It shows another chimney sweep that I want mine to look similar too.
Conceptual Precedent
Technical Precedent
I chose this for my technical precedent because it is a video I watched that helped me get some information and help on the best way to attach 3D prints to different materials.
This is my additional precedent. I got inspiration for my stand from this because it has a base and 2 grips that the item rests in,
Additional Precedent
Today I made my first sketch of the project. This shows every part of my project. With the brush, the stand, and the 3D models. I will start making it tomorrow.
Initial Sketch
Day 1
The first thing that I did today was make the file that will be sent to the CCI to make my stand. Here, you can see the base of my stand and the 2 grips that will hold the brush.
Cuttle Stand Components
Day 2
The other thing I did today was start to make the characters that will also rest on my stand. These will be 3D printed, and a small but cool addition to my project. On the left you can see the golem named Charlie and on the right you can see Nan. These will most likely be 3D printed tomorrow.
3D Printed Characters
Day 2
Today I did a few things. I made a lot of progress on my 3D figures by printing them and clearing the supports. I also worked on my stand and laser cut the pieces, as well as put them together.
Day 3
Today I did a few things. My handle piece came in, but it wouldn't fit in my grips. I fixed this problem by sanding down the grips so it would fit. I also painted my 3D characters.
Day 4
Today I worked on the brush. I plan to 3D print it out, paint it, and then feed wire through the holes so it looks like the top of a chimney sweep.
Day 5
The first thing I did today was print out my chimney sweep brush part. After printing it out, I had to clear all of the supports in the holes. Then, I spray painted it silver. I was also able to get the wire I need to put in the holes.
Day 6
Day 6
I also worked on my stand today. I was able to draw a face on my 3D printed Nan. After that, I glued her to the stand. I also made a little sign to show what the project is. Some of the glue was looking messy, so I used a heat gun to heat up the glue and wipe the extra away.
Day 7
Today I did a few things. The first thing I did was put all of my wire through the holes in my brush. I think it looks pretty good. My chimney sweep handle also dried after I painted it. It looks pretty good. Tomorrow I will get more wire, cut it and put it on.
Day 8
Today I spent a lot of my time In the art room. Before I could do that, I finished putting the wire into the 3D print. Although, I accidentally stabbed myself with the wire and had to take a break. Later, I went to the art room to paint soot looking marks on my dowel and brush.
